“Volunteers across the Archdiocese of Toronto have a long-standing tradition of giving generously of their time and talents to strengthen our community. We must never underestimate the tremendous contribution of these individuals and the critical role they play in providing care, compassion, and ongoing support to our family of faith.” Frank Cardinal Leo

Before you volunteer
At the Archdiocese of Toronto, protecting and caring for our community and all who participate in our parishes, programs, and ministries is our priority. All volunteers are required to comply with our Strengthening Our Caring Community Program, which includes mandatory screening, training, and evaluation.
All applicants must successfully complete the Volunteer Screening Process before being accepted as an active volunteer with the Archdiocese of Toronto.
Types of ministry positions
Ministry positions are categorized as "high” or “general” risk based on responsibility, government laws and regulations, participant vulnerability, and volunteer exposure. There are different requirements for each category.
Want more information? Please contact your local parish and speak with a screening coordinator to find out about volunteer opportunities available.
Please note that volunteers are accepted into ministry service at the discretion of the Pastor and parish ministry in accordance with our screening requirements and government regulations. Therefore, some persons may be prohibited from volunteering due to safety, age, criminal record, induction into Catholic faith, performance, experience, education and/or theology experience. We thank all those interested in offering their time and talents.
